SOME MORE PSALMS

Today, I'm writing about chapters 52 through 72 in Psalms.  With 150 chapters, over a week is spent in the Psalms.  I love them and they are so precious.  Here are a few thoughts:
1) GOD IS MINE HELPER- One simple phrase found in Ps. 54:4, but this phrase will help us to keep going when you are tempted to quit!  The Lord is your helper!  God is wanting to help you, to bless you, to transform you and I.  Let us let Him do His work knowing He is our helper!  Help me LORD, I need thee, Oh I need thee, every hour I need thee.
2) I WILL TRUST IN THEE- Ps. 56:3 says: "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee."  I heard this verse this past Sunday.  Our granddaughter, Julia, quoted this as her memory verse.  She is just over three and smart as can be.  I read it again this morning and thought how wonderful that Julia has memorized this verse.  This verse tells us what to do when we are afraid, and we often get afraid (if not for ourselves, then for others).  I wil trust in thee!!  Great verse.
3) CAN YOU TESTIFY?  Tonight is our service right before Thanksgiving, and so we will be having a testimony service.  Ps. 66:16 is a testimony verse:  "Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul."  Here is another testimony verse: Psa 107:2  "Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;"  Can you testify?  Perhaps you say, "I can't talk in front of people", maybe "I would be embarased", or "I don't know what to say".  Well, the very nature of a testimony is to tell others what God is doing or has done in your life!  If God is at work, give Him credit!!  Tell others!  If we cannot tell the saved in church, will we ever tell the lost outside of church?  I think not!  Speak up a good word for Jesus.  We will have many people do so tonight.
Well, so much for today, hope you have a blessed day in the LORD.  Hope to see some of you at church tonight.  Pastor Mike Mutchler

MORE PSALMS

Well, I got tied up yesterday and did not get anything written down, so today I'm going to try and put out two different blogs.  Here we go:
Yesterday, I started in Psalms 33.  The Psalms are all filled with great chapters and verses that come right from the heart of David by way of the Holy Spirit moving him to write exactly what God wanted said.  Here are some examples:
1) DELIGHT BRINGS DESIRES-  Ps. 37:4 says: "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."  If we delight in the LORD, then He will delight in giving us the desires of our hearts!  The key is to give the LORD what He desires first!!  God desires our love and worship.  In doing this, He also changes our desires to fit into that which is pleasing to Him, and He then can give us our desires without us "asking amiss" as the book of James talks about.  Delight in the LORD today!
2) AS THE HART- Ps. 42:1 says: "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God."  What an example of thirsting for God!  Here we take a lesson from a thirsty deer and just as this deers panteth after the fresh, clear, cold water... we too should be thirsting after God.  To know Him, love Him, commune with Him.  The Bible also says:  "I will pour water on him that is thirsty"  (talking about the Holy Spirit).  God wants us to hunger to know Him.  This is what made David "a man after God's own heart".  "A man who went after the heart of God!"  Let us do the same!
3)SING PRAISES TO GOD- Ps. 47:6 gives us this idea: "Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises."  How many times does it say "sing praises"?  Four times!!  I think God is trying to tell us something about singing praises.  How is your song life??  We had better start singing more each day to the LORD!!
4) GOD RESPONDS TO HUMILITY- In Ps. 51, we have the chapter of David's repentence to God for his sin.  In verse 17, David says: "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."  God responds to humility in a very positive way.  God notices anyone who humbles himself.... even wicked people who humble themselves are noticed by God.  How humble are we?  To that degreee, God wants to respond to us.  Keep it in mind.
Well, so much for yesterday's twenty chapters!  Have a blessed day!!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
