I Kings

I'm flying from Denver to Portland today and excited to get back home and stay there for a few weeks.  I'm reading in I Kings and here is one thought while I'm waiting to board the plane.

SHOW THYSELF A MAN- I Kings 2:2,3 says: "I go the way of all the earth:  be thou strong therefore, and show thyself a man; And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest wand withersoever thou turnest thyself:"  In this passage, there are two things I want us to see:
1-Show thyself a man.  Being a man is about facing your fears and still walking forward.  It is not necessarily conquering all your fears, but at least doing battle with them.  It is about an attempt to succeed, even if you fail.  And 2- It is about keeping God's Word.  Being a man is not about just being macho, it is about being godly!  Any man can be an ungodly man, but it takes real strength of will, and yieldedness of spirit to be a godly man.  Decide today to be God's man.

So much for today, they are boarding!  God bless!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
