NAHUM, HABAKKUK, & ZEPHANIAH

Today is Tuesday.  Enjoyed the day yesterday, and today I am looking forward to going to the gym, then having a staff meeting for an hour or two as we continue the planning for 2012.  Then I will make some hospital visits as we have members in the hospital and some having surgery.  In going through the Minor Prophets, I come to three books today.  There is so much to mention in these short books each of three chapters.  Here are a few jewels I dug up:
1) HE RESERVETH WRATH- In Nahum 1:2 it tells us "the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies."  God's wrath is reserved for sinners in Hell.  Just as those of us who have trusted Christ as our Savior have a Heavenly reservation, those who have not, have a reservation as well.  But... it is not a good one.  The Bible says that those who have not trusted Christ as their Savior, have "the wrath of God abideth on them."  This is not a reservation they will be looking forward too!  In verse 6 and 7 it reads:  "Who can stand before his indignation?  and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger?  his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.  The LORD is good, a strong hold  in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him."
2) HARD TO BELIEVE!  God says in Habakkuk 1:5:  "... for I will work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you."  In other words, God is going to do something so great that you will not believe it even though you are told about it.  It will be just too good to believe.  I have pastored a wonderful church now for over 27 years.  In those years, God has done some things that were too wonderful to believe... and I was there!  We have had a day where we baptized 203 in one day.  Another week when we saw over 300 baptized in one week!  Yes... we did.  One Weekend when we had over 1,000 saved on property.  Soul-winning marathons when we saw over 1,000 saved. (a few times)  We had two weekends we had over 4,000 people we preached to on and off property.  We have had one Sunday with over 1,800 in Sunday School and over 540 saved!  Hard to believe!  "Great and mighty things which thou knowest not."  That is God's promise if we call upon Him!!
3) WHAT THE LORD WILL DO- Zephaniah 3:17 says:  "The LORD thy God in the midst of thee in mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy;  he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing."  Wow!  What a mighty God and notice that He (God) will joy over thee with singing!  I've often said that God loves to hear us sing, but God also loves to sing!!  Wow!
Well, hope you have a wonderful day!  Blessing on you!  Dr. Mike Mutchler, Pastor Grand View Baptist Church
