Psalms 113-132

I'm in Psalms again to day.  Had a very busy day yesterday and enjoyed every minute of it.  Was able to pick up my wife from the airport and then visit a sweet family who recently joined our church.  They were so kind!  I received reports from seven other of our assistants that they had great visits as well and there were ten saved in the men's jail service last night.  God is so good.  Here are a few thoughts from the Psalms.

1) HE HUMBLED HIMSELF- I was reminded of this verse in the New Testament, Philippians 2:8  "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."  As I read Psalms 113:6, which reads:  "Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!"   God the Father, here humbles Himself to be involved in the things going on in Heaven and Earth!  Then Jesus humbles Himself to be born on earth and go to the cross!  Then God's Word teaches us to humble ourselves before our God.  James 4:10  "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up."  We have fellowship with the Father and the Son, and since they are humble, they would like us to be humble as well to join in with them.  Wow!  That is humbling!

2) PRECIOUS- Psalms 116:15 says:  "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."  We often think "tragic", not "precious"; but we need to see things from God's perspective..  He made us for fellowship, and only upon death does the fellowship get to where it should be.... face to face with our God and Savior!  Let us re-adjust our thinking.

3) PRAY- Psalms 122:6 says:  "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:  they shall prosper that love thee."   We should be keeping this Bible verse and often find ourselves praying for Jerusalem.  It is still pivotal in God's plan for the ages.

Well, got to go today!  Have a blessed day in the LORD... Listen to His voice.  Pastor Mike Mutchler
