PSALMS- day 2

Today is Sunday!!  Oh how I love Sundays.  I get to be with the wonderful people I worship God with each Sunday.  It has been a real blessing.  I'm reading in Psalms, and here are some highlights:

1) SEVEN THINGS DESCRIBING THE LORD- Psalms 18:1,2 "I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.  The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower."  In these two short verses, God is described seven times.  Now, the Bible is full of very descriptive ways of describing God.  He is beyond words, so that all of our words are only an attempt to describe Him justly.  When we stand before Him, we will not be filled with words, we will be speechless.  Only later will our tongues utter His praises for eternity, and then having never properly described our wonderful, mighty, gracious, loving, tender, kind, powerful, wise, caring, thoughtful, ever present, abundant in mercy, forgiving, personal, listening, speaking, smiling on us, praise worthy GOD!!

2) WHERE IS YOUR TRUST?  Psalms 20:7 says:  "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses:  but we will remember the name of the LORD our God."  Where do you put your trust?  Finances, earthly wisdom, a good job, man's favor, personal abilities, your resources, friends and family members, others, your own strength, etc?  Some trust in these things.... be we as God's children, should have our trust in one person.... GOD!  Let us trust in Him!!

3) I LOVE CHURCH!  I do love Church, and so did David.  He loved the house of God where God met with him.  Psalms 26:8 says:  "LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth."  Psalms 27:4 says:  "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple."  Psalms 122:1  "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD."  David loved Church!  He had a heart after God's own heart, and he loved to be in God's presence.  We too should love Church.  I love it.  I love the habitation of His house... Church!  Where He meets in the midst of two or three gathered together in His name.  Church!  Let us be faithful to every service possible, and love His Church.

4) ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR SIN- David said in Psalms 32:5 "I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid.  I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.  Selah."   Confession to God is good for the souls.  Notice that David acknowledged, confess, and accepted the forgiveness that God offers freely.  We have already been forgiven, so our confession is to keep fellowship "tight".  Don't be afraid to share with God your failures, your sins.  He already knows them.... and still loves you!  Open up to God everyday.

LORD, it's Sunday!  I sure love going to Your house today.  I want to walk in Your ways.  I want to hear Your voice today.  I love You LORD!  Let my every action be only for Your pleasure.  May You smile upon me and our Church today.  May You receive honor and praise from my lips, my life, my influence in the lives of others.  Help me LORD to please You!  Thank You LORD!  Amen.

Have a blessed day!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
