DEUTERONOMY & JOSHUA

Today is Monday and I'm in Santa Clara, CA.  I will speak in Chapel soon at Golden State Baptist College.  I am looking forward to it.  We had a great day in Church yesterday.  Many were saved, and about six baptized with three families joining the Church.  Praises!
I finished up Deuteronomy and went into Joshua, and here are some nuggets:
1) EBAL & GERIZIM- These were two mountains mentioned in Deuteronomy 27 and Joshua 8.  Six of the tribes were put on Gerizim (the mount of blessing) and six of the tribes were put on Ebal (the mount of cursing).  Moses would read the blessings of the law and promises of God, and the six tribes on Gerizim would say "Amen".  Then he would read the curses of the law to those who neglect to obey God's Word, and again they would acknowledge it.  (although they did not say Amen to the curses).  This was a way to drive home the reality that God had put before them both Blessing and Cursing, and told them to choose Life not Death. We too should choose the blessed life, which is the life of obedience!
2) THE SONG OF MOSES- In Deuteronomy 31, we see that Moses wrote a song and taught it to the children of Israel.  In chapter 32, we see the song that Moses wrote.  What is interesting about this song is that in the book of Revelations it speaks of it.  Revelation 15:3  "And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints."  And this has to be the same song mentioned here and recorded in chapter 32.  This makes it a very special song!  For your consideration.
3) TERROR IS FALLEN- In Joshua 2:9 it says:  "And she (Rahab) said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you."  This is a fulfillment of what God told Israel in: Deuteronomy 11:25  "There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you."   Rahab knew that the "terror is fallen" upon the men of the area.  God had indeed instilled the fear of His people into the hearts of the people of Canaan.  God kept His Word.... He always will!!
Well, time to go.  Hope you have a blessed day!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
