II KINGS

Today is Wednesday.  We will have evangelist Tom Williams with us tonight and I am looking forward to hearing him preach.  I know it will bless my heart and the hearts of my people.  God will use him no doubt.  Today I finished up ten chapter in II Kings.  Many different kings and their rule was the subject of the ten chapters.  We go through many of them as some of them reigned only a few years to as low as one month.  The longest was 55 years for a king of Judah.  In Judah we see some godly kings come to the throne ever so often.  In the northern kingdom of Israel, we don't have one godly king.  And yet, it was Israel that had Elijah and Elisha the prophets that ministered to Israel in this time of wickedness.  Too bad a good prophet could not be paired with a good king.  My what could have happened in Israel had that happened.  Today, let me share a few simple truths:
1) ANOINT & RUN- This is what Elisha was told by God to do with Jehu.  He was to anoint him and run!  II Kings 9:3 says:  "Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the LORD, I have anointed thee king over Israel.  Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not."  In verse 10 we see that after Jehu was anointed: "And he opened the door, and fled."  Elisha is running from Jehu.  Why?  Well, Jehu was anointed to be a destroyer and that is what he was.  In this same chapter, he has killed Joram, king of Israel, and Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jezebel.  Ahaziah was related to Joram, and he was in bad company, so it cost him his life.  Then in chapter 10, Jehu has killed the seventy sons of Ahab, all the inhabitants of Jezreel, and 42 relatives of Ahaziah, king of Judah.  Also, he had killed all the followers of Baal, as he put on a big party for all of the priest, and followers of Baal, and then had them all killed in the same meeting place.  He was not a godly man, but he was a man anointed as a destroyer!
2) A GODLY MAN- In II Kings 13:20, Elisha died and they buried him.  In verse 21, a band of men were passing through with a wounded man who died. When they buried him, it happened to fall on the bones of Elisha, and as soon as the dead man came into contact with the bones of Elisha, the man jumped out of the grave!  Yes, Elisha was a godly man with the power of God on his life, and in his bones!

Well, this is all I will share for today.  Hope to see you tomorrow and hope you have a blessed day.  May God richly bless!!
