ISAIAH

It is early Wednesday morning, and I just finished reading Isaiah 34-54. I enjoyed it this morning while it was quiet in the house.  It seemed cold in the living room, but I wasn't worried about being drowsy.  There were so many things I underlined and outlined one sermon as well.  Here are a few thoughts to share with you today:

1) WHAT HAVE THEY SEEN IN THINE HOUSE?  This question was asked of Hezekiah in Isaiah 39:4.  Having been spared from the attack of the Assyrians, Hezekiah shows the wealth of his kingdom and household to the king of Babylon.  This king would later come to take all that he had seen.  What do we have in our house that we would not want Jesus to see?  Any videos we would want destroyed?  Any music, we would want to trash?  Any clothing we would not want to be seen wearing?  Any thing that we would not want Jesus to see, we should not have in our homes.  Go through your home with the eyes of Jesus and see what needs to be put away or trashed.

2) OUR BIG GOD- Isaiah 40:12 says:  "Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?"  then in verse 15:  "Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing."  Then verses 17 & 18 "All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.  To whom then will ye liken God?  or what likeness will ye compare unto him?"  God is so Big that He measures out the heavens with the span of His hand!  Wow... God is Big!!

3) VERSES THAT HELPED ME- Over 26 years ago, when I was praying about moving to the Portland area to start a church.  In thinking about moving 2,400 miles away to a place I had never been to start a new church, I must admit, I had concerns.  I had some fears.  But, God used these verses in a special way.  Isaiah 41:13,14- "For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. (14) Fear not, thou worm Jacob,..."  They spoke to me so clearly, so many years ago... and still do today!  God will help us!  God says "fear not"!  Though we feel but like a worm... God will help us and hold our right hand to help us through each trial.  Take heart dear Christian!

4) EVERLASTING KINDNESS- Isaiah 54:8 says:  "In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer."  I love that phrase:  "everlasting kindness".  Isn't God good to love us like He does?  Thank you Jesus!

LORD, thank you for this day.  I praise your Holy Name this morning, and thank you for your great love and heart for me and others.  I am humbled to be called your child, and I am grateful for your salvation.  I love you LORD, and I want to live my life today to show that to all around me; but especially to you O LORD!!  Let my thoughts and words bring you glory, and not shame.  Let my actions be to bless and not to hurt another person.  Let me be thy instrument to show your great love and mercy to others.  Forgive me as I may fail thee today, but know that my heart's desire is to bring you honor and glory through my life.  Thank you Jesus for your everlasting kindness towards me and whispering in my ear... fear not, I will help thee.  Thank you Jesus!  Amen.

Well, so much for today.  Be blessed dear friend!  Dr. Mike Mutchler, pastor & friend
