ENJOYING MORE PSALMS

Today is Thursday.  Yesterday, I didn't get the blog out till late so today I am making sure I get it out in the morning.  It has been snowing today, not much, but enough to call a snow day at school.  Here are some items from the Psalms I will share:
1) MAKE HASTE- In Psalms 70, we see that three times we have the phrase:  "Make haste" recorded by David.  He is asking God to hurry up.  God takes His time.  He is not slow, but He does not operate on our time schedules.  He maketh all things beautiful in His time.  We think that God isn't listening sometimes just because He doesn't hurry up.  But when you already have a plan, and you already know the circumstances and the outcome... there is absolutely no need to hurry anything.  Staring at a mircowave oven doesn't make it cook any faster, and asking God to hurry up doesn't mean that He will hasten the rotation of the earth so that time will jump ahead to the scheduled time of His prescribed answer to our plight.  Our goal is to learn trust, and we only learn to trust as we learn to wait on the LORD's timing.  Wait with me dear friend, and we will most definitely rejoice together.
2) PROMOTION- Promotion comes from God.  In Psalms 75:6,7 we read:  "For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. (7) But God is the judge:  he putteth down one, and setteth up another."  Here we see that promotion comes from God!  God raises up and sitteth down whom He will.  Now because of this, when we complain against authorities, we are complaining against what God hath promoted.  God promotes evil men a times for His purposes.  Though we don't agree with these men, we are under their authority at times and must respond as a Christian in all cases.  Our goal is to please our God, who does all of the promoting in the world.  It is clear that God does not just promote or control the lives of Christians, but everyone!  So, the next time we are tempted to complain about our authorities (spiritually, socially, academically, economically, and politically) remind yourself that GOD put them there!

Well, just two simple thoughts for today.  Hope you enjoy the great day that God has given us.  May God richly bless you and yours!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
