ENJOYING PSALMS

Today is Tuesday.  I am looking forward to a busy day.  We are starting to follow up on all of the many guest we had last Sunday.  Letters will be sent out, and calls will be made.  Other Church business will be taken care of since yesterday was President's Day and a day off.  I'm reading in Psalms 46 through 56, and here are a few items to share with you:
1) ULTIMATELY- Psalms 46:10 says: "Be still, and know that I am God:  I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."  I love that phrase "Be still, and know that I am God:", but I hadn't paid attention to that last phrase until this morning:  "I will be exalted in the earth."  God will ultimately see that He is exalted in the earth.  The Millennial Reign of Christ (1,000 year reign) will show God exalted as He should be today!  He will ultimately be exalted, and we will be on His team!
2) WE HEARD, NOW WE SEE- Every generation must go from hearing to seeing.  We grow up hearing about God and how He moves in our lives, but we must experience it for ourselves.  We must "see" it.  Psalms 44:1 says:  "We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old."  Here we see David saying "we heard with our ears".  Now that is how we are taught about God, but it must go further than listening.  In Psalms 48:8 it says:  "As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of host, in the city of our God:  God will establish it for ever.  Selah."  "So have we seen".  What we hear about God, we must see for ourselves.  We must experience God in order to live for Him, obey Him, love Him.  The good news is that He wants to reveal Himself to all of us if we will open our hearts to Him.
3) FOUR THOUGHTS FROM PSALMS 50- I see verses and phrases that I love and circle, put a star besides, and underline; here are four of them in one chapter: vs. 2 "Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty:  God hath shined."  (love it); vs. 7 "I am God, eve thy God."  (Yes!); vs. 10 "For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills."  (I've sung about that since a child.); and verse 12 "for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof."  (It's all His!)  So I come to verses like these and enjoy writing what I think about them, but there are too many to write about each one.  I pick and choose.
4) WHAT GOD WANTS!- Psalms 51: 17 "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:  a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."  We are to offer sacrifices to our God, but not burnt offerings and such; but a broken and contrite heart.  A Humble Heart is what God wants!!  Let us give that to Him today and every day!!
Hope you have a blessed day today.  May God bless you!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
