ISAIAH & JEREMIAH

What a wonderful day we had yesterday!  Sunday was great.  Great singing, preaching, fellowship, and many decisions made for Jesus Christ.  What a wonderful day it was.  I'm in Isaiah again and going into Jeremiah, and here are a few briefer thoughts:

1) SORROWS AND GRIEF- In Isaiah 53, that great chapter dealing with the death of Christ for our sins it says in verse 3: "a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief".  Where does the Son of God get sorrows and grief?  You say because we rejected Him as the Savior.  No, He is God in flesh, so he is not sorrowful or full of grief because His feelings were hurt.  But verse 4 says: "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows".  He got those from us!  He bore our sorrows and grief.  Next time you get down or are hurting, just remember that Christ bore those for us!
2) STAY PLIABLE- In Isaiah 64:8, the Bible says: "But now, O LORD, thou art our father: we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand."  Since God is the potter, and we are the clay, and we are the work of His hands, then it is best for us to stay pliable and let the master do with us as He will.  Are you pliable today?  Willing to be what God wants you to be, willing to go where God wants you to go?  REALLY?  What if God wants you in church on Sunday Night?  What if God said Wednesday Night too?  What if God said: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together".  (STRANGE--  May I interject a thought within a thought?  I have always misquoted this verse Heb. 10:25.  I always say: "Not forsaking the assembling of yourselves together" instead of "ourselves".  The writer of Hebrews is saying: "Meet with me."  As a Pastor, I say to our dear people:  Meet with me.  Now back to the other thought....) What if God wanted you on the mission field?  ARE YOU PLIABLE???
Dear Lord,
I love you this morning, and I ask you to search my heart and tell me of all the places that are not pliable and help them to be rutted out.  I want to be clay in Your hands that You can mold.  I don't mind being an ashtray, if that is YOUR design, but not because I am so hardened I can be nothing else.  Let it be your design that becomes my designation.  Love you Lord... Amen!
