HEBREWS & JAMES
It is friday, and it has been a busy week that has gone by fast. I'm sure your week has also been filled with many things. Today, I work only half a day and then an hour long prayer meeting tonight. I made visits last night and went soul winning, but didn't get to lead anyone to Christ. I did meet some prospects that might visit our church. May God bless you and here are a few thoughts: 1) TITHES- In Hebrews chapter 7, Melchisedec received tithes from Abraham of all the spoils. (vs. 4) Abraham gave him, a priest, a tenth. This was before the law and before tithing was spelled out in the law of Moses. The law said that a priest was commanded to take tithes of the people (vs.5) Melchisedec received tithes from Abraham and then blessed him. (vs. 6) Men, here on earth receive tithes, but we receive tithes for Christ, because the Bible states that "there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth." Our tithing proves that we believe in a living Savior, who receives our tithes for His work on earth. So, we should tithe. 2) REMEMBER NO MORE! Yes, that is what Hebrews 8:12 tells us. "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." That is such good news! God will not only forgive our sins, but He will not remember them against us any more. Praise the LORD for His forgiveness! 3) NO CHANGE IN GOD- James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." In describing God as not changing in the least, it brings up the image of a sun dial. We may not see the hour hand move on our watches, but we can see the second hand move. With God, you could not see the second hand move, because he does not move.... I am the Lord thy God, I change not. If you looked at a large sun dial, you would not see any shadow of movement as it describes God! He is the same, yesterday, today, and tomorrow! Praise the LORD!! Hope you have a blessed day, I am going to be finishing up the New Testament in just a day or two and then start all over again in the Old Testament. Hope you will join me in following along on some of the truths I point out that speak to me as I read. May God bless you and yours! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
