MUTUAL GLORIFICATIOIN
Today is Thursday. I so enjoyed teaching last night on The Names & Titles of God. It was a blessing to me to cover Isaiah 9:6 (Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace). Five titles in one verse and they all prophetically refer to our Savior, God's Son, Jesus Christ! Wow! He is truly WONDERFUL!! Here is a thought for today:
MUTUAL GLORIFICATION- John 17:1 "These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:" Jesus is asking the Father to glorify Him, so that He might glorify the Father. They had mutual glorification in mind. Now if two persons in the Trinity seek to glorify each other, what should our desire be? We ought to live to bring honor and glory to our God. We cannot add to their glory, but we can acknowledge their glory. We don't "give" glory to God, because He has it all already. But we can point out that He alone is worthy of glory! We praise Him because He desires praise from His children. Are we glorifying the LORD by our actions, tongue, thoughts, etc? That certainly should be our Goal. "In my life, Lord, be glorified, be glorified, in my life Lord be glorified today." I have not sung that song in many years, but we need to start using it again and live everyday to glorify our LORD!!
Have a blessed day! Pastor Mike Mutchler
