Finishing up the Book of John

I'm on my second cup of coffee now and I've just finished reading the book of John.  I still have 11 more chapters to read in Acts, but I'll have to read those later today.  Let me share with you what I read this morning.  In chapter 12:21 of John, I love the phrase when certain Greeks come to Philip and say:  "Sir, we would see Jesus".  I think that is still the desire of this world.  They hear a lot about Jesus, but they want to see Him.  Well we know that the only way this lost world is going to see the Savior is through us!!  We need to constantly be reminded that we are the only reflection of the Savior in this dark world.  We need to shine out bright for Christ!  In John 16:23,24, I wrote the word: "ASK!" in the margin of my Bible.  Why?  Well because it says: "Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name:  ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full."  We ask for many small things so often and it seems like Jesus is giving us a great invitation here to ask boldly.  I hope you will join me in asking great things from a great God.  I love the phrase in John 19:5 when Pilate says of Jesus:  "Behold the man!"  Jesus was not some whimpy fellow.  The pictures we often see would have us envision some effeminate fellow, but Jesus was a man's man.  He chose tough men to be His disciples and he lived a tough life, and died a tough death, without a whimper.  What a man He is!!  So much to say about Jesus… that is what John 20:30,31 says and John 21:25 says.  In chapter 20, says there are many things not written in this book, but that these things were written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that in believing ye might have life through his name.  In chapter 21, it states that if everything was written about Jesus that should be written, that "even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written."  AMEN!!  Wow!  Isn't it wonderful to know Jesus?  Well, my coffee is getting cold and I don't like cold coffee.  Join me tomorrow for another cup of coffee with pastor and see what I've read in God's Holy Word!   Pastor Mike Mutchler
