NUMBERS and DEUTERONOMY

Today, the sky is a little overcast, but I'm hoping it will clear up later.  Our ladies are having a big conference at our church today and tomorrow, and they have put a lot of hard work into it.  I know it will be a blessing.  Numbers and Deuteronomy.

Numbers:

27:7- "The daughters of Zelophehad"  They brought their complaint to Moses, and Moses brought it to God, and God said, they "speak right:  thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren".  Their father had died in he wilderness, and left no sons to inherit land in the promised land, and his daughters brought that concern to Moses, and God said they should get the inheritance.  Even in the Old Testament, we see that God honored the rights of women.  God remembered that woman was the last of His creation and He exalts her often.

29:40- "And Moses told the children of Israel according to all that the LORD commanded Moses."  Much was verbal communication.  We have the scriptures and the first five books of Moses, but much was verbal to be passed down generation to generation.

35:31- This verse tells us that a murderer shall be put to death, but "ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer...... but he shall be surely put to death."  This is justice without vengeance!  Remember the Bible says "vengeance is mine, saith the Lord".  We are to seek justice, but not be filled with hate.  I know that would be very hard, but that is God's way.

Deuteronomy-

1:11 Moses blesses the people.  "(The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he that promised you!)"  Moses wanted the people to be blessed of the Lord, and they were.

2:36 "there was not one city too strong for us:  the LORD our God delivered all unto us."  We we go in the strength of the LORD, we find that nothing is too hard for us!  When we go in our own strength, we are stopped over and over again.  The key is to go with God's strength!!

7:10  There is a Hell!!  "He will not be slack to him that hateth Him, He will repay him to his face."  What a solemn verse!  God says that if someone hates God, that God will repay him face to face.  When a lost sinner stands before a holy God who that sinner has brushed off in life, then a holy God speaks judgment face to face with that sinner and the punishment is for all eternity!!  This is why we ought to see poor sinners get saved!

Well, my time is over.  Hope you have a blessed day.  Tomorrow, we will finish up Deuteronomy. (It means "second law")  Dr. Mike Mutchler
