ISAIAH & JEREMIAH

Today, I finished Isaiah and got into Jeremiah about 10 chapters.  As you may know, I read 20 chapters a day and write on a few of the things I underline, mark in my Bible's margin, or circle.  Today, there were at least 20 different times I wrote something down and there is no way I can share half of them; so, I will give a few to you today.  This is not a teaching time, but a sharing time.  I am only sharing with you things I gleaned from God's Word today.  I hope it will be a blessing and inspire you to glean the good stuff for yourself as well.

1) TITLES- God has many titles throughout Scripture, but in Isaiah 54:5, we see six of them in one verse:  "For thy Maker is thine husband:  the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called." We call Him our Heavenly Father, and He is all of these and more!

2) WHAT A TRADE!  In Isaiah 61:3, it reads:  "To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified."  Ashes, mourning, and heaviness is traded for Beauty, Joy, and Praise!!  What a trade!  I'll take that!

3) TO THIS MAN- I love this verse:  It speaks to men.  It speaks to my heart and my walk with God.  Here it is, Isaiah 66:2  "For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD:  but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word."    God will look for the man that has a poor spirit, and a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at His word.  Oh that I might possess the things that cause God to look on me!  Dear Father, please let these qualities be found in me and abound!!

4) GOOD IDEA- Jeremiah 5:5 says:  "I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them: for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God:..."   To sit at the feet of great men of God is certainly the wisest way to learn!  It is a blessing to learn the things of God from men who walk with God.  In this verse it goes on to say that these men had "broken the yoke, and burst the bonds."  So not all great men are wise!  But, it is still the best idea you will ever have for growth.  Follow godly men (as they follow Christ)!

Well, I hope you have a blessed day!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
