Psalms 86

I started reading in Psalms 86 this morning, and so I want to write about that Psalms.  I enjoyed so much preaching last night on "Keeping Sweet'.  Don't let life, people, or circumstances get you bitter, old, and grouchy.  Let the Peace of God rule by God's Word, Our Worship, and Putting God into every equation of life.  "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee."  WoW!!

Here are some thoughts:

1) DAVID'S STATE- "I am poor and needy"; "I cry unto thee daily"; "for unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul".  This is why we can relate to David.  We are in the same boat.... poor and needy.  We cannot solve the problems of life, therefore we cast our cares upon Jesus!  He is the one that is strong, not us.

2) GOD'S STATE- David then acknowledges God's greatness.  "None like unto thee, O LORD"; "thou art great"; "doest wondrous things"; "art God alone"; "a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth."  (five things)  You see David starts out describing himself, and in that there is no hope.  But, then he puts his sights upon God and sees the greatness of God and now .... thing look bright and rosy!  God makes that difference.  The outcome has not changed, but the focus of our heart, mind, and sight has!!  Now, we look to God!

3) DAVID'S PLEA- "Shew me a token for good".  He goes on to say that he desires this "token for good" from God so that his enemies may see it and be ashamed!  OH My GOD, please show me a token for good!!  I too need you to show me your loving kindness in your blessings upon my life, my family, and my ministry.  Help oh LORD,  for I am poor and needy.  Let this be your prayer today as well.

Have a blessed day.   Pastor Mike Mutchler
