VERY DANGEROUS!

Today is Thursday.  I enjoyed so much teaching last night on the Names of God.  El Roi= The God who sees.  God sees us and that is a great comfort.  Today I have one truth in Numbers 16.

VERY DANGEROUS!!  In Numbers 16, we see the rebellion of Korah.  In verse 3, we see that he has gathered 250 princes of Israel, men of renown, famous in the congregation.  Now these were the leaders of the congregation.  Korah says:  "Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them:  wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?"  Wow!!  These were not THE leaders like Moses and Aaron, and the 70 elders whom God had chosen, but this is the men whom the whole congregation looks up to.  This would be like the men of the church rising up against the Pastor and the deacons of the Church.  I cannot think of anything that would be more demoralizing to Moses and Aaron for this to happen.  I know as a Pastor if that happened I would just go home and pack up thinking that God must have some other Church for me to pastor.  But, not Moses!  He knows that God will not put up with this!  He falls on his face before God and God says to move over and He will wipe out the whole congregation.  But Moses says it wouldn't be fair to destroy the innocent with the guilty.  God speaks to Moses, and Moses talks with God.  Moses tells the congregation to move aside (because they all showed up with these men), and tells them not to touch them or anything that belongs to them.  Moses speaks to Korah and says that if God were to do something regular in taking them out, then they would be right in what they have said; but, IF God did something new then that would validate that MOSES is meant to be God's leader for the people.  As soon as Moses quit talking, the ground opened up and swallowed them, their wives, their sons, their little ones, and all that pertaineth to them!  God didn't want anything left that would be a reminder of these men.  Wow!  I wonder if their families knew the jeopardy that their husband and fathers had put them in?  I doubt it.  The truth is established over and over in Scripture that it is VERY DANGEROUS to go against God's man.  Well, what if you don't agree with him?  Follow him as if you agree or not.  If you think he is going against Scripture, then do one of two things:  walk away.... OR... let God handle him... He will!!  Don't let your family suffer because you tried to take on the leadership away from God's man.

Well, that is the study for today!  God bless you!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
