I KINGS 11

In I Kings 11, we see that Solomon's heart is pulled away by women.  He had seven hundred wives, and three hundred concubines, and the Bible says: "his wives turned away his heart."  In 33 years of being a pastor, I can say that it is rarely that a family leaves a church because of the husband.  Usually the wife has something happen in her life that causes the husband to pull away from serving God.  God made woman to have a profound effect on man, but a godly woman is the need of man.  Solomon's wives pulled his heart from the LORD.  Because of this, God said in verse 11: "I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant."  His straying heart is what tore up the kingdom.  It is easy to blame his son, but it was he who caused the divide.

Thank God if you have a godly wife!  Keep committed to Christ if you wife is not as spiritual as she ought to be and lead from a position of Scripture, not emotions.  The rest of the chapter tells of one adversary after another, but all because Solomon's heart had strayed from God.   Don't let that happen to you dear friend!  Have a blessed day.
