JOHN & ACTS

It is Saturday morning, and I have a men's meeting to teach at in thirty minutes, so I cannot type for long.  Here are a few things I wrote about in the margin of my Bible, but I will not get to expound upon them much.

1) WHOSE FEET ARE YOU WASHING?  In John 13:14-15  "If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.  15  For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you."  Jesus gave us an example and told us to do the same.  Now debate has taken place as to whether this was meant to be an actual act or a symbolic one.  Most would say symbolic, but no matter, it is to be done one way or another.  Who are you serving?

2) RECEIVING CHRIST'S MESSENGERS IS RECEIVING HIM-John 13:20  "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me."  Jesus sends His messengers (Pastors, evangelist, missionaries...)  and as these men are received, it is like receiving the LORD Jesus Christ Himself.  Are you receiving these men?  How do you treat Missionaries?  How do you treat your Pastor?  **However you do.... is how you treat Jesus!!

3) RARE MEN- Acts 6:3  "Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business."  These men who were ordained by the apostles to help them take care of the widows were special men.  They were men who had a good report, full of the Holy Ghost, and full of wisdom.  You don't find men like this very often.  We call these men deacons and later in Scripture there are more qualifications for them.  Appreciate a good deacon, they are rare men!

Well, I've got to go for now.  God bless!   Pastor Mike Mutchler
