Subject: [Cup of Coffee with Pastor Mutchler] SIT - WALK - STAND

Today is Saturday.  I just came back from our Saturday morning Men's Meeting.  We had a great time as always and I shared from Romans how our Will needs a Walk.  We have the will to do right, but without a walk, it alone cannot find it's way.  Now, I want to share a truth about the book of Ephesians.  I told someone this morning that Ephesians has a simple outlive of Sit, Walk, and Stand.  So, for him, here it is:

SIT- Eph 2:6  "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:"  Here we see that the word "sit" speaks of the POSITION of the Believer.  We are citizens of Heaven, we are sitting in Heavenly places in Christ.  When we get saved, we get a position as a believer that is in Christ.  So, the first two verses of Ephesians deal with our position.  We have redemption through His blood (1:7), we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise (1:13), we have been enlightened (1:18), we have been quickened who were dead (2:1), we have been saved (2:5), we are created in Christ Jesus unto good works (2:10), we have been made nigh by the blood of Christ (2:13), He is our peace (2:14), we have access by one Spirit unto the Father (2:18), we are a holy temple in the LORD (2:21), and we are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit (2:22).

WALK- Eph 2:10 " For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Eph 4:1  "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called," Eph 4:17  "This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind," Eph 5:2  "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour." Eph 5:8  "For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:"  Eph 5:15  "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,"  Here we see the PRACTICE of the Believer.  We are to walk in a different light.  We are saved to walk good works.  These verses give us a sample of all of the things we should walk in.  God uses this short book to teach us about a new life in Christ that involves a new walk.

STAND- Eph 6:11  "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."  Eph 6:13  "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."  Eph 6:14  "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;"  Here we see the BATTLE of the believer.  We are to take our stand against the Devil's wiles, stand against the evil day, and stand ready for battle.  The Christian Life is a battle.  We fight to live right!  If we keep with the right walk, it will be easier to take the right stand.

So, we start with a Position in Christ, we learn a Walk with the Lord in in doing right, and then we take a Stand against that which is wrong.  Hope this helps us understand the book of Ephesians, and what God desires for us.  Have a blessed day!   Pastor Mike Mutchler

DIVINE FRIENDSHIP

We had a wonderful day at Church yesterday and I'm so excited about the good day with Dr. Don Sisk.  It was a blessing!  What a dear man of God.  I'm praying that God will allow us to do more for Missions because of the giving of our people.  Today, I am in I Samuel, and the thought is this:

DIVINE FRIENDSHIP- In I Samuel 18:1 it says "...that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul."  Friendships are a tremendous gift from God.  The Bible says:  Pro 18:24  "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."  and... Pro 17:17 " A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity."  In the lowest ebb of David's young life, a dear friend came through for him.... Jonathan.  He loved David as he loved his own soul.  If you have a dear friend, then you have been blessed of the LORD.  Many people do not have a close friend.  Here we see Divine Friendship given by the LORD to David and Jonathan.  They were both there for each other.  Are you "there" for someone in your life?  Why not be the divine friend that someone else needs rather than think about the friend you don't have.  He that would have friends, must show himself friendly.  Why not be a friend to someone in need, today!

Have a great day.  Pastor Mike Mutchler
