MONDAY IN THE PSALMS

What a glorious day we had Sunday!  God was so good to us and what a blessing it was to be at church.  We were so blessed.
Today, I'm in the Psalms again.  If you read 20 chapters a day, you will still spend over a week in the Psalms.  It only takes two weeks to get through the New Testament, so you can see the significance of the Psalms and the size of it, having 150 chapters.  Here are just a few highlights:

1) GUARDIAN ANGELS- Yes, we do believe in them and we get this from verses like Psalms 34:7 "The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them."  In the New Testament the Bible says concerning small children that in Heaven their angels behold the face of God.  So yes, we believe God has angels who watch over us.  I think mine has been beat up some in protecting me from various situations that could have damaged me seriously.  How about you?
2) GOD WANTS US BLESSED!- In Psalms 35:27 it says: "Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant."  So yes, the LORD does want us to be blessed because it pleases Him!!
3) WE ARE FRAIL, AND OUGHT TO KNOW IT- IN Psalms 39:4 it reads: "LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am."  David was a mighty man of war, but if you asked him, he would tell you how frail he was and totally inadequate.  So we too should think such of ourselves.  The lower we think of our own abilities and the more we magnify the LORD's abilities, the more God will flow through us to get His will accomplished!  Don't allow your enlarged view of yourself to limit God working through you.  Remember this, God desires the glory and the glory comes when He has done a great work with a weak vessel!  That is what we are..... do we know it?  That is the question.
4) ONLY HEARING?- In Psalms 44:1, David says: "We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us..."  It all starts with the hearing of God's Word.  The hearing of the Bible truths, the hearing of the stories of the great men and women of the Bible.  But, it must go beyond this.... it must go to what you experience for yourself!  You must see God working in your life, you must learn to trust Him yourself, not just hear of those who have.  The Bible says of the heathen: "Who having ears, hear not; who having eyes, see not."  If we are not careful that can happen to good people who grow up "hearing" about God.... but who never open their ears to really listen to what God is saying in His Word.  There must be more than just hearing.... David said in Psalms 48:8  "As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah."  You see.... he saw!!  Have you?  We must all go from just the hearing to the seeing!!  Look for God today in your every day life!!

Dear Father, we look for You today!  We love you, and we are conscious of Your great love for us today!  I am looking for you LORD.... in the smile on another's face.... in the tears I can shed for another's hurt.... in the good I can do "in Jesus name"....in the love of a friend.... in my love for others..... In my thoughts.... prayers..... I have heard of you LORD, I even read of you this morning....but..... I'm now looking for you!!  I'm going to see you today LORD, because I'm looking!!  In Jesus name... AMEN!    Have a blessed day!
