PSALMS

This morning is overcast, but the day is still young.  Perhaps we will have some rain later in the day.  Tomorrow is Sunday!  Wow!  I'm excited already.  I'm looking forward to preaching and sharing in my class.  Today, I'm in the Psalms.  The Psalms are a quick read and yet there is so much to share.  I will only pick out a few things, here they are:

1) THE FOOL- In Ps. 14:1, it says: "The FOOL hath said in his heart, There is no God.  They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, thee is none that doeth good."  Notice that the theology of the fool (there is no God) follows his lifestyle (they have done abominable works).  When someone does not believe in God, it is usually because their lifestyle forbids them to acknowlege God.  They would have to change their ways IF they acknowleged God!  Don't ever accept someone saying "there is no God" as the results of their thought process... it is a direct result of their "sin process"!!  That is why they are called a fool!  They know the real reason, but they offer another reason, thinking we cannot see beyond the wool they have pulled over their own eyes!  Praise God, we are not fools, but love, worship, and serve our great God!

2) THE HEAVEN'S DECLARE- In Psalms 19:1 it says: "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork."  Now, this has not changed in all of these years!  Way back when... the heaven's declared, and they are still declaring!  The only difference is that with our modern devises, we can know much more about these heavens and more now than ever, they declare we have a great big, wonderful God!  The universe is big!!  And all of this declares unto us that God is bigger still!!  My what a mighty God we serve!!  "How great thou art", ought to be in our constant thoughts as we look into the heavens!

Have a blessed day and tomorrow is Sunday!!   Dr. Mike Mutchler, Grand View Baptist Church
