PUT TO MORE STRENGTH
Today is Friday. Before noon, I will be going to the airport to pick up three young adults who are praying about working for us here at Grand View Baptist Church. They will be working in our school. There is one young couple, and one single lady. Tomorrow, I will pick up two single ladies at the airport, and all five teachers will be spending the weekend with us. The couple are each teachers themselves. I am praying that all five will want to move to Oregon and help us build the best school possible. We need help to add to our already dedicated staff. Pray about that with us please. Here is the truth for today:
PUT TO MORE STRENGTH- Ecclesiastes is Solomon's "widom under the sun". It is an inspired account of the sum of man's wisdom. It does not mean that it is all true or acurate, but it perfectly tells what Solomon said. It is full of practical wisdom and human frustrations. Here is a practical principle of life: Eccl. 10:10- "If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength:" If you are a little dull, go and get sharpened (school, college, trade, experience, etc.) or know that you will have to work harder than others around you to succeed. (put to more strength). Don't complain that you do not have the talent and abilities of others, simply out work them!! The simple key to success is working harder than the next guy! This has been my experience. I am amazed by the knowledge and abilities of many pastors. I am quite common myself, but I have worked hard for many, many years, and God has seen to bless that effort. Now, the effort didn't bring any success... God's blessings brought about any success we have enjoyed, but the effort.... brought about God's blessings! Yesterday I was thinking that in America, we have always traditionally believed that if we work hard, God will bless! In other parts of the world they have thought if they work hard they will succeed. This is different that what we believe. Hard work by itself is not enough, God must bless! So, "put to more strength" and let God bless!!
Have a rewarding day! Pastor Mike Mutchler
