LAST 20 CHAPTERS IN PSALMS
|Well, today I finish up Psalms. I always look forward to reading through the Psalms and it takes a week to do but I sure enjoy it. It is a blessing to read. Here are a few thoughts I had today as I read God's Word.|
1) GIFTED SOLDIERS- God gives us gifts and abilities to use for His glory, and in Psalms 144:1, we see that the Psalmist recognized God as having gifted him for battle. "Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:" Remember that Solomon said he did not know how to go to battle and come back, but David did. He was gifted by God to be good in battle. I thank God for our men and women who are soldiers in our country who have been gifted by God to use their gifts for the protection of our land and to fight the battles for good and right. They have been gifted by God!
2) HAPPY PEOPLE- As Christians, we should be very happy people. The Bible tells us in Psalms 144:15 "Happy is that people that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD." and in Psalms 146:5, we see: "Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:" We are happy not because of circumstances, but because we are saved, sealed, and Heaven is our home!
3) HE NAMED THEM- God is so great! So immense! So above our ability to comprehend in His greatness. In Psalms 147:4, it says: "He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names." We pride ourselves on our ability in America to have studied the universe, and yet, we give numbers and letters to the stars to identify them. God calls them by their names. God created immensity to tell us something about our Creator. The Creator is greater than the creation. Psalms 148:3 says: "Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light." God created all that is to praise Him. Psalms 146, 147, 148, 149, and 150... all begin with "Praise ye the LORD". Maybe we ought to take a lesson from the stars!
Well, hope you have a great day! I've got a busy day planned myself. May God richly bless you and yours! Pastor Mike Mutchler
