Finishing Isaiah

As I finished Isaiah today, I thought about a few of the phrases and verses in these chapters.  Here are just a few:

1) FASTING HELPS - Isaiah 58:6 says :  "Is not this the fast that I have chosen?  to loose the bands of wickedness,..."  Fasting helps to "loosen" the bands of wickedness, or the areas of your life in which you are struggling.  Fasting yields to the spirit and says no to the flesh.  It is hard, but it is effective.  Try it for a day or two. (fluids only)

2) DIRTY RAGS- Isaiah 64:6 says our "righteousnesses are as filthy rags"  This is not the worst about us, but the best!  The best is like filthy rags.  Oh our need of our Savior!!

3) NEW HEAVEN- Isaiah 65:17 "I create new heavens and a new earth:  and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind."  Today, there is a lot of talk about living "green" to help our planet.  When God makes all things new, that will be the help of our planet.  We forget that the planet was doing real well until man sinned.  Our sin caused the curse to be upon the planet as well.  We want paradise without yielding to the Creator!  As sin increases, the planet will be greater cursed.  The answer is not in buying and living "green", but in living "clean"!!

4) HELL- The last chapter and verse in Isaiah talks about Hell.  Isaiah 66:24 says "the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched;"  It's this what Jesus mentioned several times?  Yes, this is saying that Hell is prepared for those who decide not to go God's way.  The key is to trust Christ as ones Savior while there is time.  Last night I had the joy to telling one more about the Savior.  It was a blessing!

Well, see you tomorrow.  You have a great day in the LORD!!  Pastor Mutchler
