LUKE & JOHN
What a blessed day we had yesterday. Sunday was great!! We had perfect weather, and we had 1133 for Sunday School! WE had 503 on the buses, we had 102 in the teen class, we had 276 in the Spanish Class and the auditorium looked full even though we started teen church last Sunday! It was a blessed day and scores of people were saved and several baptized and a few joined the church. It was marvalous! Today I'm in Luke and John and here are just a few thoughts: 1) A STATEMENT OF PURPOSE- Luke 19:10 says: "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which is lost." This is why Jesus came, to save us! He also said, as the Father hath sent me, even so, send I you. His purpose is to become our purpose! I'm glad to be a part of a church that every week is making His purpose, our purpose! 2) ALL LIVE TO GOD- Here we see people born, live, and die; but God on the other hand, never sees the ceasing of that person. In Luke 20:38, it says: "For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him." In God's eyes, all live unto Him! They live in Heaven or Hell, but they live and He sees them. Let us realize that we are to "live unto Him", and that way we will enjoy the eternity we have with Him. 3) CHRIST FULFILLED THE WORD- After the resurrection, Jesus is speaking to His disciples while they are eating a meal with Him. He says Luke 24:44 "And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me." Notice that Christ fulfilled the writing of Moses which were written 1,500 years earlier, and the writing of David which were written 500 years earlier! Those words were just as inspired and preserved so that when the Savior pointed them out, the disciples believed the words that were written. They had no doubt about inspiration and preservation of the Word of God, and neither should we! 4) NO ONE SPEAKS LIKE JESUS- In John 7:46, the officers answered, "Never man spake like this man." The men of the court had been following Jesus and they were told to apprehend Him. In the previous verse they were asked "Why have ye not brought him?" And there answer was that "Never man spake like this man." What that meant is that man does not say what this man is saying. They directly were stating that Jesus was "more than a man." That is why they would not lay hold on Him and that is why when He was taken in the garden, a troop of soldiers were sent to bring one man in, because they knew that Jesus was more than a man. Even then, they all fell down as dead men when Jesus spoke...Wow!! We know He is more than a man, He is the Sinless, Virgin Born, Son of God, Savior of the World, Ruler of the Universe, Creator of all, and King of Kings and Lord of lords!! Have a blessed day! Walk with God and enjoy the journey! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
