DEUTERONOMY ON SUNDAY
Today is Sunday! I am so looking forward to today. I enjoy each Sunday so much. It is always such a blessing to see what the Lord is going to do. Today I am in Deuteronomy and here are a few nuggets of my thoughts:
1) HE WAS MADE A CURSE FOR US- Deut. 21:22,23 says: "And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance." So, in the New Testament, we see: Galatians 3:13 "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:" Jesus knew when He was to hang on the cross that He was to be accursed of God the Father. Yet, he did it all for us! Praise His name!
2) HOW TO GET GOD'S ATTENTION- In Deuteronomy 26, we see given out throughout the chapter a formula to get God's attention. It will mention that God looked down. God took interest in what was going on because of what was going on with His people. Here are the three things that I wrote in the margin of my Bible:
a. When we look UP, God looks DOWN. vs. 7; b. When we look AROUND and see those in need, God takes note vs. 12; and When we look WITHIN, God looks at us vs. 16-18. These principles still work today. We need to look up to God, forget ourselves and look to help others, and look within to please our God. It still works today!!
3) GOD CAN OPEN HIS TREASURE BOX FOR US! Yes, in Deuteronomy 28:12 we read: "The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow." Wow! Oh to let God open up to us His treasure box. It is certainly worth living for the LORD so that we enjoy this gift from out God.
Hope you have a blessed day dear friend! Pastor Mike Mutchler
