ECCLESIASTES

Today is Saturday.  It is in the morning and soon I must be going to our mens Bible Study.  Here are  a few items to share:

1) WHAT TRIPPED UP SOLOMON?  According to Ecclesiastes 2:3-8, this is what tripped up Solomon.  WINE (vs. 3); WORK (vs. 5); WEALTH (vs. 7); and WOMEN (this is implied in that he had 300 wives and 700 concubines).  Now Satan has only a few worn out tools to use against men, and these four are the same ones he uses over and over again.  Let us not fall prey to these traps Satan lays out for men.  Let us "walk circumspectly, not as unwise".

2) WHEN YOU GO, LISTEN!  Eccl. 5:1 says:  "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools:  for they consider not that they do evil."  We go to listen to the preaching and teaching of God's Word and we go to listen to God speak to our hearts!  Go to listen.

3) LOVE YOUR WIFE- here is strange advice from a man who never had one wife to love, but he speaks out of his experience in not finding that one true love.  He says in Eccl. 9:9 "Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity:  for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun."  As long as you are alive... love and live joyfully with your wife everyday, and all of your days.  What very good advice!

Well, time is short on Saturday's so I've got to go for now.  Pastor Mike Mutchler
