FINISHING THE PSALMS ON SUNDAY!

Today is Sunday!  Praise God!  I love Sundays!  I cannot wait to be with God's people this morning and to hear His praises and to worship God with my voice, tithes and offerings, and loving my fellow man.  It is going to be a great day!!  Last week it snowed Sunday morning and we had one accident that closed the highway to our church and another wreck that blocked the alternate road to church that cars barely got around.... and yet... we had a great day!!

I read in the Psalms and Proverbs this morning and I have just two thoughts to write about.  Here they are:

1) IMMENSITY-  God is so big!  He can do anything.  I have though much about how big God is.  The Bible says the Heavens are His throne and the earth is His footstool.  It also says "He measureth the heavens with a span" (the width of your stretched out hand, from thumb to pinky).  God is BIG!!  But immensity goes in all directions.  In Size He is immense; in Righteousness He is immense; in Strength He is immense; in Love He is immense; in Wisdom He is immense; and so it is with every attribute of God.  Let me focus on one of these.... in Knowlege He is immense!  In Psalms 147: 4 it says: "He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names."  Do you know how many stars there are?  God does, and He has named them all!!  We give numbers to the stars because there are too many for us to name.... not for God.  The Bible tells us that He numbereth the hairs on our head (for 6.4 billion people)!   Do you know how much knowlege God has?  It is immense!  No wonder the Bible tells us as the heavens are above the earth, so are my thoughts than your thoughts and my ways than your ways saith the Lord of Host.  Wow!!
2) PROVERBS- The wisdom of God laid down through Solomon.  Any wisdom Solomon had came from God as a gift.  Remember, He asked for wisdom and God granted it to him.  Thus Proverbs is God's wisdom, not man's.  Solomon writes this for his son to have wisdom.  In the first two chapters he introduces the types of people he will meet in life and what to do in these cases.  Let me introduce them to you:
a. Wise-(vs.5) He will hear, and increase learning.  He listens to wise counsel.
b. Simple (vs. 22) He runs with the crowd and others think for him.  He does not think about consequences or the future.  He lives for today.
c. Scorners (vs. 22) These mock wisdom.  They are not teachable, they lead others astray and delight in it.  They are their own authority and listen to no other.
d. Fools- (vs. 22) These listen to wise words and then go the other path.  They only learn from their own mistakes, not the wisdom of others.  They fall in many of life's pitfalls.
e. Wicked (evil) (2:12,22) This man rejoiceth to do evil, and delights in wickedness.  "Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;"
Here they are.... follow them throughout Proverbs and you will learn much to help you understand the many people you will meet in life.  They fall in one of these categories!

Have a blessed day in the LORD.  Pastor Mike Mutchler
