Deuteronomy 8

Here again, I'm just writing something about the first chapter of the twenty that is covered each day. Notice these thoughts:

1) Commandments- Chapter 8 is about keeping God's commandments..  God tells us that led them through the wilderness to humble them, prove them, and to know them.  (vs. 2)  It seems that God has the same objective for our trials as well.  Let us remember that!
2) "man doeth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doeth man live."  This is very similar to what God's Word tells us in Matt. as well!
We need spiritual nourishment just like we need the physical foods we eat.
3) DANGER- God's blessings carries with it some danger.  The danger is that after being blessed we start to take the credit for it.  In verse 17, it says: "And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth."   Stay away from MY and MINE, but remember "HE that giveth thee power to get wealth"  (vs. 18)  All blessings come from God and we would do well to remember this.
Well, just a little today, off to our men's meeting this morning!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
