TREASURES IN THE PSALMS
It is Thursday morning, and I'm look forward to a great staff meeting this morning as we plan and brainstorm for the days ahead. Then some time at home with my dear wife, and then soul-winning tonight. So looking forward to the day. I'm in Psalms, and here are some treasures I found: 1) SECRET FAULTS- Psalms 19:12 says: "Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults." Then he goes on to say in the next two verses: Psalms 19:13-14 "Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." The obvious sins and faults David had could be seen by all those who were close to him, but he was concerned not about what people saw, but what God alone saw. These were his secret faults. If we are to be a godly person, we do not focus on perception (how people perceive us), but reality (how God sees us). We want to be for real, not fake. Not just polished on the outside so that we look good. (this was the Pharasees) We want to be pure on the inside where God alone can look. David asks that these secret faults would be cleansed by God and that they would not take dominion over him. We too need to be praying just such prayers as this. Let us be men and women of God, through and through! 2) I LOVE CHURCH! I sure love Church, and David loved meeting with God too! Psalms 26:8 "LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth". Psalms 27:4 "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple." Psalms 122:1 "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD." Do you love Church? Not because of the people who show up, but because of the PERSON we show up for. Church is about Christ, and it is hard to be in love with one without the other. Well, just two I want to share today. There are many truths I have shared before as I read through these chapters, but I wanted to share just these two. May God bless you! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
