HEBREWS

Today is Wednesday.  I'm looking forward to church tonight.  These are days off as we celebrate Christmas.  Several of our staff are out of state visiting family while others of us are here and relaxing with our families.  Yesterday I had our grandchildren over to watch and enjoy.  Today, I'm still in Hebrews and wanted to spend some more time here.  Here are some items to share with you:
1) TITHES- In Hebrews chapter 7, Melchisedec received tithes from Abraham of all the spoils. (vs. 4)   Abraham gave him, a priest, a tenth.  This was before the law and before tithing was spelled out in the law of Moses.  The law said that a priest was commanded to take tithes of the people  (vs.5)  Melchisedec received tithes from Abraham and then blessed him.  (vs. 6)  Men, here on earth receive tithes, but we receive tithes for Christ, because the Bible states that "there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth."  Our tithing proves that we believe in a living Savior, who receives our tithes for His work on earth.  So, we should tithe.
2) REMEMBER NO MORE!  Yes, that is what Hebrews 8:12 tells us.  "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." That is such good news!  God will not only forgive our sins, but He will not remember them against us any more.   God can do this because the penalty has been paid by Christ.  True forgiveness from God means that the payment has been properly paid.  God cannot be just and just forgive sin without a payment.  Otherwise, He would have to do this for everyone.  But, because Christ paid our sin debt, God can forgive all who accept Christ as their payment for sin.  Praise the LORD for His forgiveness!
3) A FEARFUL THING- Hebrews 10:31 says:  "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."  A fearful thing!  One day all those who have rejected Christ will find out to their great fear that Jesus is LORD!  To their shame, but also to their great fear.  Now, they will remember what Christians told them about Hell.  Now they will remember that Hell is for all eternity.  Now, they will quake in fear as they approach the great white throne judgment.  Now, they will weep and wail as they realize that the Lake of Fire will be their home for all eternity.  Oh, today they mock Christ and Christians.  Today they laugh and make jokes about Hell, but then.... they will see that it truly is a fearful thing!  Don't let that be your fate or your loved ones fate.  Let us tell others about Christ!
Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
