Numbers

I'm writing this late in the afternoon, and was very busy this morning, so I'm finally getting around to writing something.  Here are a few thoughts from Numbers:
1) GOD SPEAKS-  Num. 7:89 says that God spoke to Moses from off of the mercy seat.  God speaks at the mercy seat which speaks of payment for sins.  When our sins are paid for, (Christ's Death), and that payment is accepted (our Personal Acceptance of Christ Death for our Sins.), then.... God can speak to us and we will hear.  For now we have a relationship with the Father through His Son!!
2) IT DOESN'T PAY TO DISOBEY!- Numbers 14:41 says:  "Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD?  but it shall not prosper."  It never pays to disobey!  If we keep God's commandments, God blesses us, but if we disobey, God judges us.  It will never prosper you to disobey God's commandments.
3) IS IT A SMALL THING TO YOU?  Num. 16:9 says "Seemeth it but a small thing unto you.."  Moses was speaking to Korah who is rebelling against Moses' authority, but the point Moses is making is this:  Korah was given a position of service in the moving of the tabernacle of God, and Korah did not think that was enough of a position.  We ought to think that any service we do is a BIG THING to do for God.  Jer 45:5  "And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not:"  Korah sought "great things" instead of thinking that what he was doing for God was a "great thing".
4) ONE MAN LEAD TO MUCH DESTRUCTION-  Korah disobeyed.  OK, then he should have paid for it, and he did!  But... he influenced others to disobey as well.... and they too perished.  Not just the 250 that was with Korah, but also the ones that complained when God God dealt out His judgment.  Another 14,700 died (Num. 16:49)  In all, 14,950 died!!  One man's disobedience.... affects many!!

Well, that's all for today.  Tomorrow, I finish up Numbers and get into Deuteronomy.  May God bless you!!   Pastor Mike Mutchler
