II John thru Revelation 12
I'm almost through the New Testament. Only 10 more chapters that I'm saving for tomorrow. Here are some highlights of what I read that spoke to me today: 1) FULL REWARD- 2 John 1:8 "Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward." The implication is that you can lose out on some of your rewards if you start backing off on those things that you once did for Christ. I want a "full reward" and so I too must "look to yourselves (myself)" to see that I keep doing and keep believing what I've always believed and done. All of us should not stop, but keep pressing on for Christ! 2) KNOW THEIR NAMES- III John 14, says: "... Greet the friends by name." Paul does this even in his epistles. I spoke a day ago how in II Timothy, he even listed his adversaries by name. He named them! Here he reminds us that since we are a part of a spiritual family at church we should get to know the family and call each other by name! 3) LOVED US, WASHED US, & MADE US! Revelation 1:5-6 "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." I love it when I find things like this. Three things that Christ did for us in two verses. He loved us! Praise the Lord for His great love. He washed us! Yes, His own blood was shed to wash and cleanse us from our sins. He made us! Already we are made kings and priests, but one day, we will realize that in it's fullest sense. Thank you Jesus! 4) WORTHY OR WRATH? In Revelation chapter five, we see that Jesus is the one who is worthy! Worthy is the Lamb! We will be among that group that sings the praises of our Savior and sing out "Worthy is the Lamb!" What a great group to be a part of. But, when we get to chapter six, and verse 16, we see another group of people. They are crying out for the rocks and mountains to fall on them and cover them from the "wrath of the Lamb!". Now we are blessed to be a part of the first group, but there are many around us that will be a part of the second group. Let us share Christ while we have time! May God richly bless you and your home, and Happy New Year! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
