I Kings & II Kings

It is Saturday morning, and I have just a little while to type before I head off to the Men's Prayer meeting where I give a devotion and then we pray and then we enjoy a great breakfast together.

1) BETWEEN TWO OPINIONS- Elijah says in I Kings 18:21- "How long halt ye between two opinions?  if the LORD be God, follow him:  but if Baal, then follow him."  We need to decide who is God and then follow Him!  I know that the LORD is God, and Jesus Christ is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God.  (not three, but one God.)  And I have chosen to follow Him.... how about you?

2) HUMILITY- God looks for humility!  In I Kings 21, we have the story of Ahab, the wicked King of Israel.  It says of him in: 1 Kings 21:25  "But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up."  (vs. 26) "And he did very abominably in following idols,..."  But, when he heard that judgment was befalling him because of his sins... in verse 27 it says:  "that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly."  So that in verse 29 it says:  "Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house."
*God delights and humility and responds to it.  We ought to walk humbly before God and serve him humbly.

3) THE WISDOM OF GOD-  In II Kings 2, we see Elisha.  He follows Elijah, and has God's power and wisdom.  There is wisdom that:  a. Comes from the Word of God , b. Comes from the Witness of God (His Spirit), c. Comes from the Warriors of God (your human mentors), and d. Comes from the Way of God (will of God).  II Kings 2:15 says:  "The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha."  This was why he was mightily used of God.

Well, time is gone!  Have a blessed day..... tomorrow is Sunday!!!
