I COME TO DO THY WILL, O GOD

Today is Sunday!  I love Sundays!  I have been away for two Sundays from Grand View, and there is no place on earth like it.  I love our church dearly.  I love so much about it and the people are the best.  I just am excited about being with God's people.  Here is a thought from Hebrews where I was reading this morning:

I COME TO DO THY WILL O GOD- Twice in Hebrews chapter ten, we see these words.  Once in verse 7, and it reads:  "Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God."; and then in verse 9, it reads:  "Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God."  Now, these verses are talking about Jesus and His response to the Father.  It is written of Christ that He came to do the will of the Father.  Jesus said:  John 8:29  "And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him." ; and again we see: Luke 22:42  "Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done."  Jesus came to please and follow the will of the Father.  Now, if Jesus came to do God the Father's Will, shouldn't we?  Of course.  Jesus also said:  Mark 3:35  "For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother."  So that is our task in life too!  We are not here to live for ourselves, but to live for Christ!  To please Him, to please the Father!  Oh may it be said of us:  I come to do thy will, O God!!!

Have a blessed day.  Pastor Mike Mutchler
