DEUTERONOMY

This morning, I started off in chapter 11 of Deuteronomy and read for 20 chapters.  Here are some highlights:

Chapter 11- It's All about LOVE-- Having repeated the law in chapter five and now explaining it, we come to chapter 11 and the LORD wants the people to know that it is about love.  vs.1-"Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God..."  vs. 13- "to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul."  vs. 22- "To love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him."  It is still true today... it's all about Love, not going through the motions of outward obedience.  Do we love God today like we should.  Do we tell Him everyday, many times a day?  We ought to!

Chapter 12: 32 tells us not to take liberties with the Word of God.  "What thing soever I command you, observe to do it; thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it."  God says what He means and means what He says!  We don't add to or take away from.

Chapter 14- The tithe belongs to God.  vs. 22-"Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year."  vs. 28 "...bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, "  God uses the tithe to fund His work on Earth, and we need to obey God in this matter.

Chapter 20- Don't Destroy the Fruit Trees- verses 19 & 20 tell us that when they besieged a city for a long time, they were not to put an axe to a fruit trees.  God wanted the fruitful trees to not be touched except to eat their fruit, but not for firewood.  We are to respect all Christians, but we definitely should not be disrespecting someone who is fruitful in the kingdom of Christ.  David said:  "Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm."  Don't harm the fruitful Christians!!

Chapter 28 God's Good Treasure!  Verse 12 says: "The LORD shall open unto thee His good treasure,"  I like that thought!!  God has good treasure He wants to give to us.  We need to be thankful for all of His blessings!!

Chapter 30- LOVE, OBEY, & CLEAVE.  Verse 20 tells us to love the LORD thy God, and Obey His voice, and Cleave unto Him.  These three words will go a long way in helping us keep right with God.

Well, that's all for today.  I hope to meet you tomorrow, on Sunday!!  I love Sunday!!  I'm excited already and I'm looking for a great day on Mother's Day!  Happy Mother's Day MOM, I love you!!   Your Son.... Pastor Mike Mutchler
