Numbers & Deuteronomy

I just read the last ten chapters of Numbers and the first ten chapters of Deuternonomy.  In just a little while I will go to our Men's Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 am each Saturday morning.  I always look forward to this.  In Numbers, we see the second census of the children of Israel, and it is interesting that of all the men counted, only Joshua and Caleb were counted earlier in the wilderness.  All had died according to the word of the LORD.  These two were the spies that gave a faithful report.  Various offerings are explain for several chapters, and the Midianites are are conquered and their possessions divided among the Israelites.  In chapter 32, Reuben and Gad wanted to stay on the east side of Jordan for they had cattle.  Moses said "Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?"  They explained that they would put up temporary housing and then go over Jordan and fight with the others till all was conquered and then go home to build their homes.  Moses said if you do this, well; but if not, "be sure your sins will find you out."  The sins of the inactive Christian is always found out in their lives and the lives of their children.  They are saved, but not involved in the battle for the souls of mankind.  We should all be involved to the hilt!!  Deuteronomy means "second law".  Deuteronomy goes over the ten commandments in chapter 5 and repeats many of the laws found in Leviticus.  I will talk more about what is found in this book tomorrow, but for now I've got to go to the breakfast.  May God richly bless!!     Pastor Mike Mutchler
