JOB

I am putting this up late because I left for our men's meeting on Saturday Morning.  Some of the men told me this morning that I should publish what I taught on and send it throughout this area.  I told them it's enough to keep the church doors open and send the messages to the people who show up.  I do appreciate that they know it helped them and could help many others.  God's Word is like that!  It's not the messenger, but the message!

I'm reading in Job, and again it is so full of insightful verses and phrases.  In chapter 13:3, Job says: "I desire to reason with God."  I don't think I would like to do that, because God is the source of wisdom and reason and knowledge, and I would come up bankrupt!  Sometimes we feel that way though.  We wish we could convince God to see things from our prospective.  In verse 13 of the same chapter, he says: "let me along, that I may speak, and let come on me what will."  Again, I would not want to come on me what will.  Some bad things can and do come upon people, but I would never wish for it, nor would I be so bold to say to God, send me your worst!  No, I desire the blessings of my God and I would rather walk close to Him to receive them.

A question from the wealthy:  Job 21:15 "What is the Almighty, that we should serve him?  and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?"  It is amazing to me that men would be so bold to think they are self sufficient, and self made.  They are not, and so many times they have to lose everything before they realize that.  Lord, help us to be dependent upon you totally, everyday, and conscious of our every moment need of you!!

Soften My Heart- Job 23:16 "For God maketh my heart soft,"  It took adversity, but his heart was softened.  I want that too, I want my heart soft.  I hope it doesn't take adversity, but, I want a soft heart whatever it takes!!  I believe I have a soft heart, but I always want one, and we need to work to keep our hearts soft.

Is God impressed with riches?  Job 36:19 "Will he esteem thy riches? no. not gold, nor all the forces of strength."  God is not impress with what we have or who we are.  He knows us and therefore, He is not impressed!  We need to always be open and honest with God.

Well, so much for today!  May God richly bless you and tomorrow.... is Sunday!!  Dr. Mike Mutchler
