I KINGS AND II KINGS

I'm in Hammond, IN for Pastor's School with Dr. Jack Schaap and the great First Baptist Church.  Last Sunday, they had 18,195 for Sunday School!  Not bad for a Strong Bible Preaching Baptist Church.  God has used them in a special way and I'm glad to be here and learn this week.  Dr. Schaap is a dear friend.

I'm in I Kings and II Kings.  I did not get to blog for Monday, and I'm thinking I'll have to blog in the evening instead of the morning, because I have to leave the hotel very early to get to early meetings and I'm about half an hour away from the Church.  The next two days, I have an 7:00am breakfast at the church to attend.  I'm looking forward to it.

1) GET ME BACK TO GOD- In I Kings 19, Elijah found himself under a Juniper tree all depressed and dejected.  (You ever get that way?)  Sad to say I've been there a few times. Not often, because that is not my nature, but I've been where I didn't have the answers.  Thankfully, God did!  Elijah eats a meal and then travels for forty days and nights unto Horeb, the mount of God.  (vs. 8)  Remember, that is where God met with Moses in the burning bush.  God showed Himself to Moses there, and now Elijah thinks to himself.... I need to get back to God!  So he goes where he knows God once showed Himself, and guess what... God shows himself again!   You will find God where you once knew Him!

2) A POT OF OIL- In II Kings 4:2, Elisha asked a poor women in debt, what do you have in the house.... she had sold everything she could and only have a "pot of oil".  The instructions was to borrow more vessels and she did, filling the house and the oil poured out filling all of the vessels and stopped when there were no more vessels to fill.  God is still looking for vessels to fill..... are you available?

3) A LAND LIKE YOUR OWN- II Kings 18:32, the Israelites were told that they would be taken away to "a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, tht ye may live, and not die:"  A land just like their own.... except.... they would be slaves!!  The devil wants to enslave you.... don't buy his lies about offering the same life that God offers.... it is much the same in some regards except you are a slave and not a victor.  You end in death and destruction, not peace and blessing!  Stick with God's program and thrive!

Well, this is all I can write for now.  Hope to write some tomorrow evening.  Pastor Mike Mutchler
