EXODUS (The Exit out of Egypt)

I'm in Oregon and it's Sunday!!  What a wonderful combination!  I'm so looking forward to church this morning.  I preach on "My Vision for 2009!" this morning and I'm excited about sharing my goals and dreams with my people this morning.  I know it will be a blessed time.

I'm reading in Exodus this morning and my coffee is right beside me.  It is great.  There is a hard frost outside and I hope it doesn't affect the roads and running the buses.  We have not run our bus ministry for the last three Sundays!  We hate that, but must be safe with the precious lives of the dear people who ride our buses.  Here are a few truths from Exodus:

1) THE PASSOVER
(Exo 12:13)  And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.  (Exo 12:14)  And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
Notice: 1- The Blood was applied-(1Pe 1:19)  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Notice: 2- The Blood was affective-(1Jn 1:7)  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Notice: 3- A memorial was started- (1Co 11:24)  And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.  (1Co 11:25)  After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
**This was an Ordinance for the Jews, and still is today.  The Lord's Supper is also an Ordinance for the Church, and still is today!
2) A GREAT GOD USES LITTLE CREATURES- In Exodus 23:28, God says: "And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out...."  The hornets drove away the people of the land of Canaan, and yet we never hear of the Israelites having "hornet" problems.  God uses little things to make a big difference!  (Zec 4:10)  For who hath despised the day of small things?
Today, we will also remember the Lord's Supper this morning in church, so it is fitting our reading takes us there today as well.  May God bless you and yours in this bright new year of 2009!    Pastor Mike Mutchler
