PSALMS

Today is Wednesday.  We are having VBS each night this week, and so far about 100 children have trusted Jesus as their Savior.  I don't know how many "meant" it, but I know I did as a nine year old boy, and I'm trusting that many of them did as well.  It has been exciting to see several hundred children filling up the auditorium.  I'm in Psalms still, and here are a few thoughts for today:

1) SMILE ON ME LORD- This is what David says four times in Psalms 80.  He mentions this in verse 1, 3, 7, and 19.  You see, David learned the real secret of life, and that is all you need is God's favor.  You just need God to smile upon you and all is well.
Dear Lord, please help me today so live, so think, so act, that you look down from Heaven and see this child of Yours and it makes You smile.  I love you LORD, and I want to live this day so that all around me can see that love I have for You.  Smile on me Lord, "cause they face to shine", You are all I need.  Amen.

2) THIS SONGS FOR YOU! - David learned something that helps get God's attention.  He found out something that makes God smile on him.  It is his singing.  God loves to hear His children sing!  In Ps. 89:1 it says: "I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations."  (sounds like someone already made a song out of this verse.)  But learn this secret today.... sing!  Break out in a chorus, sing a hymn, make up a song that you sing to the LORD (they are the best!).  God will smile on you when you do.... He loves it!!

3) BOTH- Psalms says "Ye that love the LORD, hate evil:"  (Ps. 97:10)  We need to do both!  Love the LORD, and hate evil.  Doing one is not enough, we must find ourselves doing both.  We cannot be friendly with evil while loving a holy God.  Nor can we hate evil and yet not love a holy God.  Both are by themselves vain.  But when both are together: Loving God, and Hating evil, this is a winning combination!!

Have a blessed day!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
