WHAT GOD CAN DO

Today is Monday.  We had another great day at Grand View Baptist Church.  My, did God meet with us and bless our hearts.  The singing specials, fellowship, message, were all blessed of the Lord and helped us greatly.  We sure love Church at Grand View!  Today, I was reading in I Samuel and saw what God could do in the life of a young boy when the spirit of the Lord came upon him.  In I Samuel 16:13, David is anointed.  Here is what it says:  "Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren:  and the spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward."   This was Jesse's youngest son.  Now, Saul is dealing with an evil spirit sent from God to trouble him for his sin.  A lad is being looked for to play music to sooth his troubled soul.  Notice in verse 18 it says:  "Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse, the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him."  Notice how David went from the youngest tending the sheep earlier in the chapter, to being anointed, to being recognized as having the LORD with him.  This is a natural progression as God works in the life of an individual.  They are nothing special, then God does a work in their lives, and now those around him notice a significant difference and that now abilities never seen before are popping up all over.  God does that!  It is God who takes a man and fills him with His Spirit, and then enables him to do the tasks that God will ask.  Not man made abilities and resources, but God given abilities and resources to be used for His purposes.  Let us give ourselves wholly to the LORD and let HIM do that same work in our lives, for His glory!!

Have a great day!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
