EXODUS 1-10

Today is Tuesday, the start of school for Grand View Christian Academy.  It is going to be a wonderful day.  Today I am in Exodus, and here are a few thoughts:

1) WHO AM I?  In Exodus, we see that Moses has been commissioned by God to deliver the children of Israel from Egyptian bondage.  But Moses is not excited by the offer.  He says in Exodus 3:11  "Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?"  Now 40 years earlier, he felt like the people would follow him.  We find this in Acts 7:23-25  "And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.  24  And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:  25  For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not."  You see, when he thought he was something, God could not use him.  When he came to the place where he thought he was nothing, then God could use him.  The same principle applies to us today.  Stay humble, and let God use you and I.

2) IT WASN'T JUST FOR PHARAOH- In Exodus 6:6-9, we see that God had Moses speak to the children of Israel.  Exodus 6:6-9  "Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:  7  And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.  8  And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.  9  And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage."  I'm speaking of the 10 plagues that will be coming!  They were not just for Pharaoh.  The Israelites had forgotten God, and didn't believe Moses.  The ten plagues convinced the Israelites of who God was as well as Pharaoh.  Though the Israelites would accept God and His miracles, Pharaoh would reject God's power and presence.  So, that is the difference, but remember.... they both started in unbelief.  Let us not be found in that crowd.

3) NOW, MOSES STANDS ALONE- When Moses stood before Pharaoh, he always had the magicians of Pharaoh standing with him.  That is until the plaque of the boils.  In Exodus 9:11 it says:  "And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians."  Now, Moses stands alone.  God has a way of dealing with the enemies of God's men.  Moses did not have to deal with them.... God did it for him!
Remember, God will take care of your adversaries.  Just stay on course and let God deal with all the opposition.  He will!!

Well, that's it for today.  I hope your day is just as great as I'm expecting mine to be.  God bless!   Pastor Mike Mutchler
