Today is Wednesday.  I had a great time with our staff for about four hours today in a planning session.  We go through each month ahead of time and plan out all of the events and special days, and brainstorm each event and talk through them giving ideas that will make it a wonderful event.  I am so blessed to work with such wonderful and talented people.  They are a joy to work with.  We had lunch together and worked through the end of the afternoon.  Great things are in store!!

Today I'm in I Samuel, and the thought I have is called:  "He Props Us Up!"  In I Samuel 5, we see that the Ark of the Covenant is taken by the Philistines to the house of their god Dagon.  The next day, they saw the image of Dagon fallen on his face before the Ark of the Covenant.  The Bible records in verse 3, "And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.  In other words, they propped up Dagon.  Well, I'm glad that we serve a God that doesn't need propping up, but One who props us up!  How sad it would be to have a god you had to prop up.  Well, the Philistines did just that, but the next day, they saw Dagon again on his face, but his arms and legs were all cut off.  They could not prop him up again!  The LORD was showing the Philistines how inferior it was to have an idol that had to be propped up.  God was greater and even the Ark which only represented Him had an idol bowing down in it's presence.  God is all powerful and props us up in every area of life.  May we learn to praise Him for never having to prop Him up; and for Him always propping us up!  May God bless!

Have a great day.   Pastor Mike Mutchler
