PSALMS 106-125

It is Thursday today!  We had such a great service last night.  It was a Talent and Testimony Night.  We had a lot of talent and the testimonies were precious.  They were wonderful to see and hear how God is moving in lives and changing people for His purpose.  It was good again to hear of our teens leading 51 to the LORD, a bus captain who lead three to the LORD because he went back after a little boy waved at him, a lady who with her sick daughter had been in the hospital for over two weeks, but seven doctors and nurses were saved by her being there.  On and on we could go.  Then, they surprised me with a happy birthday song and cake for all after the service.  After that I met with someone till about 10:00pm.  It was a long day, but a good one.  I'm in Psalms, I just read 20 chapters this morning, and I just had my first cup of coffee.  I'm going to get another before I start typing too much.  Here are some thoughts, as I drink my second cup of coffee!

1) THE WICKEDNESS OF IDOLS- Idolatry is not just serving another god, it is plain ole wickedness.  Psalms 106: 36-38 gives us that insight:  "And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.  Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan:  and the land was polluted with blood."   How wicked to sacrifice your own sons and daughters!!  But, how many do the same today?  Not physically, at least not in America, but they do the same thing spiritually by not taking their children to church nor teaching them to serve God!  How terrible.  It is like sacrificing them to the gods of our land spiritually.  May this never happen to our children or grand children!

2) HAVE YOU EVER BEEN DEEP?  Psalms 107:23 says:  "They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; (24) These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep."  Have you even been in so deep that only God could get you out?  Have you ever said to God:  "I'm all in!"  Unless you have been in the deep, you have never seen God work in a mighty way.  God wants us to be in over our head, so that we are not trusting in what our feet are touching, but trusting in the God who keeps us afloat!  Have you ever been deep dear friend?  You can let circumstances put you in the deep, or you can willingly jump into the depths and let God know it is Him you are trusting.  The choice is ours, but either way, we need to experience the depths before we will ever see how real our God is!

3) WHAT THE SEA SAW- Throughout Psalms, we will see references to the crossing of the Red Sea.  In Psalms 114:3 it says:  "The sea saw it, and fled:  Jordan was driven back."  These two bodies of water were put back by God so that His people could cross on dry ground.  What did they see?  verse 7 says:  "Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the God of Jacob."  The sea saw God!!  God is so wonderful and terrible at the same time.  So beyond our feeble minds can grasps that He can scare us with His immensity, and yet comfort us with His presence.  So big, so strong, so wise, so loving.... that's our God!!

LORD, thank you for today.  Thank you for loving me.  I love you too LORD!  I want to walk with You today, to listen to Your voice.  I want to have that "sweet meditation" that I read about yesterday.  Today is all about You, dear LORD.  It is not about me.  Flow through me dear LORD.  Let my little life touch someone else for You.  Let me lead others to a saving knowledge of Thyself.  I need Thee so much.  I long for Thy presence to manifest Thyself in my life today.  I give this day to You, where it rightfully belongs.  Lead me O Thou great Jehovah!  Amen.

Have a blessed day dear friend!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
