JEREMIAH 25-34

Today is Tuesday.  I have a few appointments, a staff meeting, and then Financial Peace University tonight at Church.  It will be a full day and a good day.  I start out by reading ten chapters in Jeremiah.  The Word of God is so full of truth that it is hard to pick what to write on.  And since I have been blogging for over three years now, I don't want to pick the same thought or truth very often.  This will be the 15th time I have gone through the Bible in these last three years.  In each blog I try to get 3 to 5 thoughts to share. (Sometimes more, sometimes less)  If I take a norm of three then that means that 45 truths have come out of each daily passage during these three years.  If you were to put them all together, you would almost have a commentary on the Bible.  At the least, and good covering of great truths found in each passage.  Here are some truths for today to ponder:
1) WHAT GOD THINKS- Jeremiah 29:11-13 tells us what God thinks about Jerusalem, even in the midst of judgment being pronounced upon them.  "For I know the thoughts that i think toward you, saith the LORD thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."  God wants to give us an "expected end".  That means God has good in the end in store for us.  Even when He has to chasten us, He does it to share with us a glorious end.  Heaven!
2) GOD'S LOVE FOR ISRAEL- God loves Israel, and anyone who wants to side against it is going to side against God.  God will take that nation down who sides against Israel.  Here is some of what God says about Israel and the love He has for it:  Jeremiah 31:3 "The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love:  therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."  Jeremiah 31:37 "Thus saith the LORD:  If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that thy have done, saith the LORD."  (If you could tell how big the universe is and what holds up the earth, then God would loose His love for Israel).  Jeremiah 33:20,21 "Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, ..."  (If you can stop day becoming night, and night becoming day... then I would stop my covenant with David and Israel)  Wow!  Do you see the great love that God has with Israel and how that will never stop.
3) A GOD WORTH BRAGGING ON- Truly God is worth bragging on, and no one has said too much good about Him.  He deserves more than our best in praise and adoration of HIM!  Jeremiah brags on God in Jeremiah 32.  Here is a sample:  vs. 17 "Ah LORD God!  behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:"  vs. 18 "Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them:  the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name," (vs. 19) Great in counsel, and mighty in work:..."  Now God says in verse 27:  "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh:  is there any thing too hard for me?"  And God gives us this challenge in Jeremiah 33:3  "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."  Wow!  What a great God we serve, and truly... He is worth bragging on!!!  Do some of that today, okay?
Hope you have a blessed day dear friend.  Pastor Mike Mutchler
