PSALMS 86-105
Today is Wednesday. I am looking forward to a busy day, but a great day. I get to meet with God's people tonight during our mid-week service. I'm excited about that. It is always such a blessing for me. I'm reading in Psalms this morning again, and I have my cup of coffee right here beside me. Here are a few things I marked up in my Bible today: 1) A TOKEN FOR GOOD- Two years ago, I first noticed Psalms 86:17. "Shew me a token for good; tht they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hath holpen me, and comforted me." David is asking God for a supernatural "token for good" so that all around him, and particularly those that hate him can see that God is blessing David. So many, many times I've prayed that same prayer.... "shew me a token for good". Not just to be blessed, but that those who would oppose God's work would know that God has blessed me, has blessed our Church, has blessed His children! God has helped us and comforted us, and sometimes, we need a world around us to see that as well. Why not ask God to show you a "token for good"? 2) LISTEN UP TODAY- Psalms 95:7 says: "For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, (vs.8) Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:" God wants to speak to us today! We ought to be listening. The Bible says "if ye WILL hear his voice". That means that we can chose not to hear his voice. I for one want to have my ears open to God so that He will have His ears open to me! Listen up today my friend. 3) LOVE--HATE- Psalms 97:10 says: "Ye that love the LORD, hate evil:" It shows us that to do the one is to do the other. To love God is to hate evil, and to love evil is to hate God. They are so far away from each other that you cannot do one without being so far away from the other. The goal is to so love our LORD that we are so far away from evil and that we hate it. All of our love goes out to Jesus and we hate that which He does not want in our lives. 4) IT IS SWEET! - Psalms 104:34, says: "My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD." It is sweet! The time we spend with God, the time we spend in His Word, the time we spend in Prayer, the time we spend serving Christ.... it is all sweet!! I will be glad in the LORD because I've spent some "sweet" time with my Savior! Oh dear friend, is it sweet to you too? Oh dear LORD, I know Thou art God! You know me and seek to speak softly to my spirit today. I want my spiritual ears open to Your voice. I want to hear You speak ever so softly to me. Know dear LORD, that Your voice is my command. I need thee. I not only want You dear LORD, but I need You so much! You are my God...the source of my strength. Dear LORD, shew me a token for good today. Let me revel in Thy goodness. Let me say: "it is sweet" to be in Thy presence. Thank you Jesus. Love You today!! Amen. Have a great day dear friend! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
