PSALMS 26

It is Memorial Day and I hope that our hearts will remember the sacrifice of so many for our freedom.  They gave their all and today, we remember them.  It looks to be a beautiful day today.  I am starting in Psalms 26 and it is a Psalms where God is calling out for pardon and help.  Let me share a few thoughts concerning this Psalms:

1) JUDGE ME- I'm not sure I want to be praying this prayer, but David did.  He said: "Judge me", and "Examine me", and "Prove me", and "Try my reins and my heart".  Usually we would start by saying: "Forgive me", but not David in this chapter.  He says that he wants God to check him out and see what he is made of.  Psalms 139:23-24  "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:  "24"  And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
Dear God, search my heart today.... let me know what you have found.  Tell me what needs to be changed, and take away from me any wicked ways that pull my heart from thee.  Let my focus be upon thee today O God.  I love you Lord, and need you today.

2) PLEADING HIS CASE- David continues in this chapter to plead his case.   He starts telling God the good qualities that he has.  At lease ten good qualities are mentioned.  Here are a few:  "I have walked in thy truth", "Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy house", and "I will walk in mine integrity".  He shares his good points with God.  Now, I'm thinking God already knows our good points, but know this... he was hurting.  He is crying out to God and being open and honest with the Lord.  Let God know your hurt and your feelings.... He cares!  He loves you!  Plead your case before the Almighty!

May God bless you today!   Pastor Mike Mutchler
